Emmett 1685/24. K&G 35.829. RPC IV.4, 2213.1 (this coin). Unique. A beautiful piece with a very attractive portrait. Minor deposits, otherwise, extremely fine.

Ex Naville Numismatics E-Sale 73, 8 May 2022, 310, Naville Numismatics E-Sale 33, 16 July 2017, 246, and from the collection of Giovanni Dattari (1853-1923).

RPC notes that this piece is 'tooled' and cites as evidence an allegedly die-identical specimen with differing details. However, closer inspection clearly shows that this other piece is not die-identical at all. In fact, our coin is not only untouched but a particularly impressive example of a beautifully preserved drachm in remarkable Alexandrian style.
